WINTER 2025 RECRUITMENT

APPLICATIONS OPEN

Eckhart Consulting is excited to kick off its 2025 Winter Recruitment Cycle. Written applications open Wednesday, January 8th at 12PM CT and close Saturday, January 18th at 11:59PM CT. Please join us at our upcoming recruitment events, which will include important information regarding our written application, interview process, and other key considerations.

What is the TRYConsulting Program? TRYConsulting is a recruitment initiative for students to strengthen and build their consulting skill sets. Prior to submitting the written application, applicants are able to attend the Try Consulting workshop, where they can get tips on how to case and develop thought frameworks. Note that attending this session does not affect your application decision — rather, it is solely meant to support those who may be less familiar with consulting but still eager to learn.

The form to register for our recruitment news and events as well as the applications can be found below:

RECRUITING RESOURCES & FAQs

Additional Recruiting Questions?

Who do we look for?

We want University of Chicago undergraduates from all majors with a passion for problem solving, creative thinking, and working with highly motivated teams to tackle complex organizational problems.

When do you recruit?

We recruit new consultants twice per school year - once in the beginning of fall quarter and again in the middle of winter quarter.

What is strategy consulting?

Strategy consulting helps organizations gain insight into some of their toughest problems. We work with clients to structure solutions including organizational efficiency, increasing profitability, and determining growth strategies. EC Works with clients ranging from corporations, start-ups, governments, and non-profit organizations. See Services for examples of our past projects.

What is a case question and how do you approach it?

A case question is a business problem that we want to solve. Our interview process includes a written case question in our application and three live cases during our final rounds. We are looking for responses with well-justified assumptions, good business sense, structured solutions, and creative approaches. We do not expect candidates to have experience running cases or to follow specific frameworks. If candidates want to gain exposure to case interviews, we recommend looking through example cases from consulting firms such as the Boston Consulting Group.

What is the time commitment?

We expect 5 to 10 hours of time per week, including meetings and weekly workflows.

What does the application process consist of?

Recruitment consists of a written application and two rounds of interviews which will cover three case question components, two behavioral components, and a group interview. While we cannot guarantee acceptance to all of our applicants, many of our most successful members have applied to EC multiple times.

What is a market sizing question and how do you approach it?

Market sizing questions are often used to test a candidates business intuition and comfort with quantitative problem solving. Candidates will be expected to perform a market sizing analysis during our first round of interviews. A typical market sizing question is: “How many cups of coffee are sold at Pret-a-Manger per day?” We are looking for responses that logically drill down to a reasonable answer, not necessarily the most accurate answer.
